In October 2025, as autumn deepened, our team embarked on a journey to Hong Kong for the Global Sources Electronics Show, eager to explore cutting-edge developments in the electronics industry and expand our market. From the meticulous preparations, to the busy and rewarding days of the show, to the exhausting yet satisfying return journey, this exhibition experience, while lacking the bustle and excitement of the April shows, nonetheless offered a unique rhythm that enriched and enriched our journey of industry exploration.
Preparations for the show began weeks in advance, and sample packaging was undoubtedly a crucial step. Each of these electronic samples, including smart devices, embodied our unwavering commitment to product quality, requiring no compromise.
To ensure the samples were protected from damage during transportation, we pre-purchased specialized cushioning foam, shock-resistant cartons, and sealed bags. Team members worked collaboratively, with some responsible for sorting and organizing the samples, counting and checking each according to product model and exhibition requirements. Others focused on packaging, carefully wrapping each sample in cushioning foam, placing it in appropriately sized cartons, filling any gaps with filler, and finally affixing clear labels with the product name, quantity, and precautions. Their sole goal was to ensure the samples appeared in top condition at the exhibition.
Considering the large number of samples and the inconvenience of carrying them, and to ensure a smooth and efficient border crossing, we contacted a professional chartered vehicle service in advance. The experienced driver not only prepared us for the best border crossing routes and precautions, but also proactively assisted us in carefully loading the packaged samples onto the vehicle and securing them securely inside to prevent them from shaking or bumping during transport.
The journey from the factory to the Hong Kong exhibition venue took just over two hours. The roads were smooth throughout, and we briefly reviewed our exhibition plans and division of labor in the vehicle, arriving at our destination before we knew it. Compared to the hassle and hassle of carrying samples across borders on our own, this chartered car service made the entire trip much easier and more convenient, allowing us to fully focus on the exhibition.
For this exhibition, we also made thorough preparations for accommodations, booking a hotel close to the exhibition venue in advance. This not only saved us long journeys but also allowed our team members to rest and recover after a busy day. Even more satisfying, the hotel included breakfast.
Every morning, we enjoyed a rich and varied breakfast in the elegant restaurant, featuring fresh fruit, steaming porridge, crispy bread, and nutritious eggs, providing ample energy for a busy day.
In addition, the hotel also provided a dedicated shuttle service. Every day before and after the exhibition, a dedicated car would be waiting at the hotel entrance, taking us to the venue or back to the hotel on time. This completely eliminated our transportation concerns and allowed us to fully focus on the exhibition.
However, compared to the Hong Kong Global Sources Electronics Show in April this year, the October show saw a noticeable decrease in attendance. At the April show, the venue was bustling with people, with every booth thronged with customers seeking inquiries and negotiations. Customers sometimes had to queue up to engage in in-depth conversations with staff. The entire venue was bustling with activity, permeated by a strong business atmosphere.
However, at this October show, while the venue remained neatly organized and each booth showcased the latest products and technologies, the number of visitors decreased significantly. This difference in traffic was somewhat surprising and caused some initial discomfort for our team members, who had been prepared for the busy atmosphere.
Despite the lower traffic, we remained at our booth, proactively introducing our products to every customer who passed by. We neatly arranged samples on the display stand and provided detailed explanations of the product's features, advantages, and application scenarios through on-site demonstrations and the distribution of product brochures.
Perhaps our enthusiasm and professionalism impressed some customers, as we were able to successfully sell some samples during the exhibition. After experiencing the products firsthand, several customers were so impressed by their quality and performance that they immediately decided to purchase samples for further testing and evaluation.
Although the number of samples sold was small, it was undoubtedly a sign of recognition for our products and a source of comfort and encouragement in a relatively quiet exhibition.
Beyond selling samples, gathering customer information and expanding our client base was also a key goal of our participation in this exhibition.
Whenever a customer expressed interest in our products, we proactively invited them to provide their contact information, including their name, company name, position, phone number, and email address, and promised to promptly send them detailed product information and the latest price quote.
During the exhibition, we collected information from a number of customers and conducted preliminary discussions with them to understand their needs and purchasing intentions.
However, overall, these customers were not very interested. Most indicated that they would initially consider our products and contact us further if needed. Few customers expressed a clear interest in collaborating and were eager to engage in in-depth discussions. While this was somewhat different from our initial expectations, we also understand that building customer base and establishing partnerships doesn't happen overnight. These initial connections laid the foundation for our subsequent market expansion.
During our breaks at the exhibition, we also took the opportunity to experience the unique charm of Hong Kong and sample its local delicacies. As an international metropolis, Hong Kong boasts a diverse array of cuisines from around the world, from street food to high-end restaurants, each with its own distinct flavors. We took advantage of dinner time to visit a streetside tea restaurant and order classic Hong Kong dishes.
While enjoying the food, we were also struck by the stark price difference between Hong Kong and mainland China. A typical cup of milk tea in Hong Kong costs over twice as much as in mainland China, which made us sigh at the high cost of living in Hong Kong.
In contrast, prices in mainland China are much more affordable, and the same products can often be purchased at lower prices there. This price gap has made us more cautious when shopping in Hong Kong, striving to choose more cost-effective options.
Considering the superior quality and variety of Hong Kong pharmaceuticals, and considering the needs of our elderly family members, we made a point of visiting a local pharmacy during the exhibition break to stock up on daily necessities. We purchased common cold and gastrointestinal medications, as well as health supplements, tailored to our needs.
During the purchase process, we noted the relatively high prices of Hong Kong pharmaceuticals, but considering their reliable quality, we felt they were well worth the price.
With the exhibition drawing to a close, the dismantling of the booth proceeded in an orderly manner. We first carefully counted the remaining samples in the booth, comparing them against the previous sample list, verifying the product model and quantity one by one to ensure nothing was missing or lost.
During the inventory, we discovered that several samples had sustained minor wear and tear from repeated customer inspections during the exhibition. We intentionally stored these samples separately, planning to repair or otherwise process them once we returned to our factory. After the inventory was complete, we repacked the remaining samples according to the same packaging standards and methods, still using cushioning foam and shock-resistant cartons to ensure their safety during the return trip.
With everything ready, we contacted the driver we'd chartered, who arrived at the venue entrance quickly. With his assistance, we loaded our packed samples and personal belongings into the car. After confirming everything was securely stowed, we set off on our return journey to the factory.
As the sky darkened and the city lights began to illuminate, everyone, though exhausted, beamed with satisfaction. After over two hours of driving, we finally arrived at the factory around 7:00 PM. After unloading the samples and belongings, our trip to the Hong Kong Global Sources Electronics Show officially concluded successfully.
Looking back on this exhibition experience, while the attendance was lower than the April show and customer interest was relatively limited, we still gained something.
At the same time, this thorough preparation has made us deeply aware that only by planning and arranging in advance can we remain calm and composed in the face of various situations. In the future, we will summarize the experience and lessons learned from this exhibition, continuously optimize our products and services, and look forward to achieving better results in the next exhibition, injecting more impetus into the development of the company.
